Tunnel composting
Leppe
Project period
2014 until 2019
Client
AVEA Entsorgungsbetriebe GmbH & Co. KG
Task and implementation
The Leppe fermentation and composting plant of AVEA GmbH & Co KG is part of a modern waste disposal centre that has developed around the Leppe landfill site near Lindlar-Remshagen. Steadily increasing waste volumes required an expansion of capacities from 55,000 to at least 75,000 Mg/a.
For this purpose, we designed a new tunnel composting facility on the site. It consists of a closed reception area, a hall for mechanical pre- and post-processing as well as eight composting tunnels for the hygienisation and rotting of the waste. A new line for fine processing of the compost was built in an existing hall. In addition to the process engineering measures, we also planned all civil engineering measures as well as the infrastructure.
