PV System Sankt Augustin
Project period
2020 until 2024
Client
RSAG Rhein-Sieg-Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft mbH
Aufgabe und Umsetzung
RSAG Rhein-Sieg-Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft mbH operates a composting plant with several buildings and halls at its Sankt Augustin site. The buildings had to be demolished due to extensive reconstruction work for the construction of an anaerobic digestion plant. 4236 PV modules with a total output of 231.4 kWp were installed on the roofs of the existing buildings. The 2010 PV modules were so badly damaged by wear and tear that they had to be replaced.
Due to the considerable technical development in the production of PV modules and the change from thin-film to monocrystalline modules, it was possible to realize a total output of 230.85 kWp on one of the remaining roofs alone. The planning scope of pbo Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH included the dismantling of the existing PV modules on the roofs of the composting plant as well as the planning of the delivery, installation and commissioning of the new PV system on the existing roof. The design services included all components of the overall system, i.e. in addition to the PV modules and inverters, all cabling and the main distribution system, including instrumentation and protection. The design also included the restoration of the lightning protection systems on the existing roof. We carried out all the necessary technical coordination with the grid operator for the connection of the modified PV system.
