At the end of 2023, AWA Entsorgung GmbH commissioned the engineering company pbo with the general planning of the fermentation and composting plant at the Würselen site. As general planner, pbo is dealing with the issues in connection with the service categories §43 HOAI Civil Engineering Structures, §51 HOAI Structural Engineering and §55 HOAI Technical Equipment. The plant planning includes variants that process a throughput of 70,000 Mg/a to around 90,000 Mg/a.
In October 2024, the political representatives authorized to make decisions decided on a process concept, which is being planned in detail. The next milestones are expected in the 2nd quarter of 2025.
